CORRESPONDENCE:

The Board has not received any correspondence during the past thirty days.   The Board did discuss the confirmation of Zebra Mussels in Lake Minnewaska of which they could find their way to the northern lakes of Kandiyohi County.   The Board will continue to study Zebra Mussels around Green Lake.

REPORTS:

Caterpillar: T. Frazee stated no reports of Caterpillar have come forth, so the spraying did a complete positive job.

Education/Web Page: The web page is up to date, listing new Board members, terms of office, meeting dates for the Board.

Lake Management: Reports of finding "dead milfoil" coming up on the shore line. If you find milfoil that is turning or is "brown" in color the chemical treatment is working.   Lake owners are asked to continue to check for any signs of milfoil, reporting the area to either Roger Sowder or Bob Schemel to be placed within the GPS coordinates.

Sewer and Water: Water Lines within the Property have been marked with the Blue Flags.  Please do not remove these as all water valves/connections will be checked this summer by the Green Lake Sewer District.

Variance/Taxation: T. Lange and J. Duininck reported that there have not been any variances notifications received.   Also there are very few homes listed for sale on the lake at this time.

OLD BUSINESS:

The agenda did not list any old business, nor did members bring forth any.

NEW BUSINESS:

R. Schneider, chair of the A.I.S. Committee, spoke of the meeting with T. Frazee along with

Middle Fork Crow River Water Shed District Director B. Hodapp, and C. Anderson, Executive Director.  Discussion was how the Green Lake Property Owners Association and the Middle Fork Crow River are working together to keep Green Lake as a pristine lake.   Questions/discussion was held about the City of Spicer, as to how they see the future of protecting the lake.   This was informational only.

R. Schneider presented information to the Board about a meeting of Candidates for State, County, and local as to their ideas/thoughts of protecting the lakes.  After much discussion a committee of T. Lange, R. Schneider, G. Holmstrom, and T. Johnson will present a letter to be mailed to all candidates for their Future ideas/plans of A.I.S. on Green Lake.   Information from the questionnaire will be placed in the Green Lake Breeze.   It was suggested that all persons who live on Green Lake talk to their Senators, Representatives to see where they stand on the elimination/treatment of A.I.S. within Minnesota.

R. Schneider presented the plan of adding a "fee" to all boat owners in Minnesota, which number over 900,000 of $40.00 for a three year period.   This fee, over three years, would bring in $36,000,000.00 dollars to fight A.I.S., allocating $12,000,000 per year which is more than the DNR states they would need to confine boats, wash boats, and contain boats!

Discussion was held about people who have "forgotten" to send in their dues for the 2012-2013 year.   The Executive Secretary will send letters to those within the next two weeks.

Discussion was held about the power washing of boats for fishing tournaments plus the sailing regatta which was held the weekend of July 13, 14, and 15.   The fisher people plus the regatta people cooperated with the DNR plus Green Lake Volunteers in having their boats washed.

Motion by G. Holmstrom, seconded by T. Johnson to donate $500.00 to the Spicer Fireworks for the Winter Festival in 2013.   Motion carried.

President J. Duininck discussed the meeting he had with the GLPOA lobbyist, B. Kleven.  B. Kleven suggested that any meetings wait until after the November election.   Discussion was held about having other lake organizations join us in application for State Grants.  J. Duininck will communicate with B. Kleven about the November election, grants, etc.

A reminder to all Green Lake people to have their dock sections check, boat lifts checked to see that they do not have any Zebra Mussels upon them when they come out of the water.   A good time to check is every day you go swimming to look at the "legs" of docks and/or boat lifts.   Report any unusual type of animal/plant found.

Articles for the Green Lake Breeze are due on Sunday, 29 July 2012.

Meeting adjourned.
